Welcome to the ACBS Ontario ACT Buddy Program
A peer-led initiative for connection, skill-building, and shared learning in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
About the Program
The ACT Buddy Program connects members of the ACBS Ontario community to support each other in learning, practicing, and integrating ACT principles. This program is flexible, self-directed, and designed to adapt to your specific learning goals—whether you want to practice skills, discuss literature, or set skill-development goals.
How It Works
- Complete the Survey: Fill out our brief registration survey [Insert Link Here] to share your experience level, schedule, and goals.
- Get Connected: We will support you in finding and connecting with an ACT Buddy who matches your criteria.
- Set Your Structure: Reach out within the first week to agree on how you’ll meet (virtually, in-person, or chat) and how often.
- Keep Us Updated: Let us know if your partnership begins, ends, or if you need to find a new match.
Core Guidelines & Etiquette
To ensure a reliable and psychologically safe environment, we ask all participants to commit to the following:
- Reliability: Honour your agreed meeting times, and communicate promptly if plans change.
- Respect & Confidentiality: Approach interactions with curiosity and kindness, respect lived experiences, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Understanding the Scope: This is a space for peer learning and growth. It is not therapy, counselling, or professional clinical supervision. For clinical practice issues or personal mental health support, please seek appropriate professional guidance outside the program.
Flexibility & Community
- Rematching: If a partnership isn’t a ideal fit, it is perfectly okay to part ways respectfully. Just let us know so we can help you find a new match.
- Stepping Away: You can leave the program at any time by emailing us at acbsontario@gmail.com. You are always welcome back when you’re ready.
- Community Events: Beyond one-to-one pairings, you can participate in optional community spaces, resource exchanges, and quarterly program activities.
